“Hands-on” advanced course on non invasive ventilation and severe respiratory failure.
This is a course with a very important practical component. The theoretical classes in the classroom are complemented by workshops and feedback sessions that give it a very dynamic and participatory structure.
The understanding of new pathophysiological mechanisms, and the advent of innovative drugs with the identification of therapeutic targets for severe asthma, have created renewed interest and greater attention to this important asthmatic disease phenotype.
The purpose of the congress is to reveal the most recent clinical-scientific and technological innovations aimed at modifying clinical activity in this area of pneumology in great expansion. In addition with the contribute of pulmonologist and allergist specialists who are part of the Faculty the congress aims to grow the knowledge of the history of asthma from basic mechanism to pathophysiology in order to be able to address the patient the most appropriate personalized therapy.
This course is aimed at pulmonologists and thoracic surgeons who want to train in diagnostic and therapeutic interventional pulmonology. As a rule, two-thirds of the course are devoted to “hands-on” workshops and one-third to the theoretical aspects of bronchoscopy or thoracoscopy. The participants will have the opportunity to practice live bronchoscopy or thoracoscopy (using pigs and sheep). The operating rooms are equipped with full video equipment.
A workshop to review the content of newly authored Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) for use in future examinations. The workshop will include guidance on correct format of MCQs, group discussion on the content. There will be one group session that will continue for the duration of the event. Participants will have contributed to the content prior to the event. Instruction will be provided as to the processes involved in authoring and reviewing MCQs, and standard setting for assessment
This course provides an overview of the field of Interstitial Lung Diseases (ILDs). Participants will learn which diagnostic procedures should be applied based on given clinical circumstances, and what difficulties can arise in ILD diagnosis. Special emphasis will be given to HRCT courses, as these typically guide the diagnosis of many ILDs; this will be accompanied by sessions on ILD-pathology. Therapy remains a challenging aspect of treating many ILDs, so this course will provide participants with insight into the pros and cons of specific ILD treatments. Interdisciplinary ILD board discussions will be held between specialists and course participants, and course attendees will have the opportunity to bring their own challenging cases and discuss them with leading experts. Further, there will be a dedicated discussion session on the impact of comorbidities on the clinical course of ILD treatment.

This course is aimed at paediatricians and pulmonologists who want to train in diagnostic and therapeutic paediatric bronchoscopy. The course is devoted to hands-on workshops and also to teaching the theoretical aspects of bronchoscopy. The participants will have the opportunity to practice live bronchoscopy.

This course is designed to provide a comprehensive understanding of the physiological basis of exercise testing, to identify the indications and the protocols used in clinical settings as well as to identify “typical” patterns of response to cardiopulmonary exercise testing and to show how to discriminate these from “anomalous” response profiles that can cause misinterpretation of test results.
