After two successful edition, PORTRAITS 2024 will focus the attention on recent perspective on chronic respiratory diseases, analysed throughout the treatable traits approach. The purpose is to use this strategic tool to explore the future of chronic lung disease management, with “a look forward” on new perspectives, data and evidence from recent studies and real-life experiences.

The International Course on the Clinical Management of Drug-Resistant Tuberculosis is a five-day in-person course aiming to strengthen participants’ capacity in the clinical and programmatic management of drug-resistant tuberculosis. It includes pre-disposing online content with on-demand videos and quizzes.

This ERS course organised in collaboration with the European Society of Paediatric Radiology (ESPR), will improve current standards of paediatric chest imaging with the aim of improving care for children with respiratory disorders. Close collaboration between paediatric pulmonologists and paediatric radiologists is needed to optimise: order management, imaging protocols for common paediatric lung diseases (i.e. pneumonia), dose reduction options for chest CT protocols, and implementation of chest MRI for specific clinical indications.

This course aims to provide participants with the theoretical foundations for managing patients with multidrug-resistant tuberculosis (MDR-TB) and addresses, in a practical way, strategies for screening, preventing, and treating MDR-TB based on the latest evidence. The latest WHO recommendations will be discussed, as well as the choice of treatment regimens and the conditions for their application. The course will also introduce some elements of the management of extensively drug-resistant tuberculosis (XDR-TB).

The purpose of ERS HERMES Examination is to assess the knowledge of candidates in respiratory medicine. As this is a summative assessment, the purpose is to distinguish successful candidates, who prove that their knowledge is up-to-date and matches European standards in respiratory medicine. The exam is taken online and invigilated by a third party.

To provide up-to-date information on the daily practice of pulmonologists, respiratory scientists and allied health professionals, in order to improve their knowledgebase, and, ultimately, to improve the overall quality of patient care. The information disseminated during the webinar should introduce the basic concepts and established techniques rather than scientific work in progress.

This course will provide an update on tuberculosis, non-tuberculosis mycobacteria, fungus, bacterial and viral respiratory infections. The programme, developed by ERS and ESCMID, is designed for attendees to gain a fundamental understanding of the diagnosis, prevention and management of respiratory infections, while participating in workshops and discussion of clinical cases.

The key objective of this set of modules is to provide participants with different opinions regarding key issues in the field of respiratory medicine. Discussions between recognised experts will be recorded and made available in video format for the participants. Each module will be based on a specific topic or a case presentation.
